4 Ways to Stop Excessive Sweating

Sweating is a part of the process where your body cools down. During sweating, the body secretes liquid through sweat glands that are covering the skin. It is normal to sweat, especially when you are indulging in strenuous physical activity. However, in some cases, the sweating can be in excess and can be a matter of concern for many. Thankfully, there are several ways to fight heavy sweating.

1. Use antiperspirants before going to bed
Antiperspirants are useful in controlling heavy sweating. They work by blocking sweat ducts, preventing sweat from secreting. Sweat is still bring produced by the gland; it just does not reach the surface of the skin. Deodorants do not work in the same way. They are only able to cover the smell produced by the bacteria during heavy sweating. Some antiperspirants also contain deodorants. 

2.  Pick the right fabric
One of the most effective ways to stop heavy sweating is to pick clothes made of fabrics that are light and breathable. Wearing such fabrics allows for good ventilation. Light-colored clothes reflect sunlight instead of absorbing it. Therefore, wearing them will keep the body cooler and prevent heavy sweating. In case you do not have access to light-colored clothes, wear patterned or dark colors so that the sweat patches remain hidden. The layering of clothes is also an option. Multiple layers will prevent sweat from appearing on the topmost layer of your clothing.

3. Stay away from foods causing excessive sweating 
When you have to attend an official meeting or have a social gathering, you should avoid spicy foods. These foods trigger the same reaction in the body as any other source of heat. When these foods heat the body, as a reaction, the body tries to cool down and eventually starts to sweat in excess. Caffeine is another item that you must avoid. Consumption of caffeine can cause stimulation of the adrenal glands and lead to sweating from your feet, palms, and underarms.

4. Try to stay cool
To stop heavy sweating, try to keep your body cool. During the summer season, you can place a bowl of ice in front of the fan. This will let the fan circulate cool air in the room and prevent your body from heating up. You can also keep the blinds and curtains drawn during the daytime. This will keep the heat out and prevent your room from warming up. If you are stepping out, try to remain in shade as much as possible.
